The Influence of Hydrothermal Temperature on Alumina Hydrate and Ammonioalunite Synthesis by Reaction Crystallization

With the rapid development of alumina industry and shortage bauxite, high-alumina coal fly ash (HACFA) has attracted more attention as a potential alternative resource. In order to extract from HACFA with newly developed technology, investigation crucial step, reaction between NH4Al(SO4)2·12H2O NH3·H2O, is necessary valuable. Thermodynamic analyses have shown that four kinds hydrate (boehmite, diaspore, gibbsite, bayerite) might be formed at 120–200 °C, ammonioalunite temperatures over 180 °C. A hydrothermal crystallization method was applied this reaction. The experimental results showed boehmite (AlOOH) could 150 °C 200 after 12 h NH4Al3(SO4)2(OH)6, an unstable intermediate, during initial stage transformed into boehmite, eventually. higher temperature (200 °C) energetically favorable for formation crystallinity products better. More importantly, sheet-like structure 24 time. SEM proved structures evolutionary process boehmite.
